El texto del artículo se basa en la conferencia Ernest Lluch desarrollada por el autor principal durante el XII CONGRESO SESPAS en Barcelona, España, el 20 de junio de 2007. El título del trabajo fue inspirado por la obra del pintor flamenco Hieronymus Bosch (1450-1516), «Los siete pecados capitales», expuesta en el Museo del Prado, en Madrid.
