Resum

Els darrers anys s'ha produït un augment de l'interès de l’epidemiologia pels problemes ambientais. En el present article es discuteix el paper de l'epidemiologia ambiental a partir de la revisió de la bibliografia mèdica apareguda l'any 1989 i de la reflexió sobre l'estratègia de l'establiment de valors estàndards pels contaminants. Alhora es presenten diversos aspectes de la mesura de l’exposició, que és la seva caracteristica més significativa.

Summary

The interest of epidemiology on the environmental effects has grown up in recent years. The present paper discusses the role of environmental epidemiology based on a revision of the medical literature appeared in 1989, and on a review of the strategy in setting up standards. Different aspects of the exposure measure, the main characteristic of environmental epidemiology are presented

En los últimos años se ha producido un aumento del interés de la epidemiología por los efectos derivados del ambiente. En el presente articulo se discute el papel de la epidemiologia ambiental a partir de la revisión de la bibliografía médica aparecida en 1989 y de la reflexión sobre la estrategia del establecimiento de estándares legales de los contaminantes. A su vez, se presentan diversos aspectos de la medida de la exposición, que es la caracteristica más importante de la epidemiología ambiental.
