L'objectiu d'aquest article és revisar en quin estal es troba el cribatge del càncer de mama en el nostre país i quines podrien ser les directrius més aconsellables en intentar desenvolupar-lo. Es presenta primer I'impacte d'aquesta malaltia en el nostre país, per desprós incorporar I'evidència existent sobre I'eficàcia del cribatge A continuació es descriuen els principals programes i iniciatives que han intentat impulsar-lo. Finalment, es fan diverses recomanacions que semblen importants per tal d'aconseguir que el cribatge del càncer de mama no només sigui eficaç sinó també efectiu. Es conclou que és necessari que les autoritats sanitàries i professionals articulin i monitoritzin aquests programes.

The aim of this paper is to review the current state of breast cancer screening in our country, as well as to discuss the most appropriate approaches for its development. Firstly, the impact of breast cancer in Spain is presented, as well as the current evidence about the efficacy of the screening. The major programs and initiatives addressed to promote screening are described. Finally, a few recommendations are given in order to achieve that breast cancer screening be, not only efficacious, but also effective. It is concluded that it is necessary that health and professional authorities coordinate and monitor breast cancer screening programs.

El objetivo de este artículo es revisar en qué estado se encuentra el cribaje del cáncer de mama en nuestro país, y cuáles podrían ser las direclrices más aconsejables al intentar desarrollarlo. Se presenta el impacto de esta enfermedad en nuestro país, para despuée incorporar la evidencia existenle sobre la eficacia del cribaje. Se describen los principales programas e iniciativas que han intentado impulsarlo. Finalmente, se hacen una serie de recomendaciones que parecen importanles para conseguir que el cribaje del cáncer de mama no sólo sea eficaz, sino también efectivo. Se concluye que es necesario que las autoridades sanitarias y profesionales articulen y monitoricen estos programas.
